Our annual Close Protection Conference is a great opportunity for security practitioners to learn new tips and tricks about their trade. You can get a fresh perspective on an otherwise familiar field, or be introduced to a relatively new area by sitting in on one of our many panels or presentations.
However, when so many industry experts are located in one area, it also creates a great networking opportunity. Whether you are new to the industry or just looking to expand your Rolodex, reaching out to and meeting new people is an extra bonus for attendees. With hundreds of attendees rushing between panels and speeches, the thought of networking might get overlooked, so we offer you the following tips to help you get the most out of your time at the conference…
Have an Idea of Who you Would Like to Meet Beforehand: Do you have a particular interest in a given topic or issue? If so, you may want to consult the conference agenda and see if there is an expert in your field that you would be interested in meeting.
Stay at the Westgate: Staying at the venue is always desirable. Your chances of running into another attendee are going to decrease if you decide to stay at another hotel on the other side of town. We will also be offering a special conference rate for all participants.
Be Prepared: Make sure that you always have a business card; you never know when you might make that valuable connection.
Use Social Media: Be sure to take advantage of social media. Using official hashtags can be a great way to make connections with other attendees.
Follow up on your Connections: Once the conference wraps up, don’t forget to reach out to those you met and begin reaping the benefits of your networking efforts!
